Making payment of Riba on behalf of father Print E-mail
Question:
My father has taken out a loan and i have told and warned him regarding the severity of the sin, and i will further explain it to him if he wants to take out more and try my best to stop him, My question is because he has already taken like two out he is under contract to still pay them back to banks, he sometimes asks me to make the payment in the bank for him because his often busy with his work, i usually do this in order to obey him and make it easy for him, but i now feel it might also be a sin for me as well that i am doing it for him because a hadeeth comes into my mind of the prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that those who deal in riba, those who witness it and the hands that exchange are all the same, i paraphrased the hadeeth so may not be accurate...

Although my intention is not to deal in riba. Its just to save him time and if i dont make the payment he will anyway, so i wanted to know if there is any harm in me making the payment?

Jazakhallahukhairan

Answer:

Assalam o alaikum,

The payments as you said are not from your money nor you were involved in any agreement based upon interest. You are just carrying out the demand of your father. So Inshallah you are free from any sin, especially when you keep on advising your father on the prohibition of interest.

Wassalam.
