Question: Could you please help me I am trying to find out if we adopt a child from Muslim country can that child take our family name or does he have to keep his own. If he can take ours will this be in line with the Quran and Allah. Answer: It is true that the adopted child cannot take the name of the adopter. The law in U.K. allows you to foster a child while he can retain his father’s name. What is important that in official papers his father’s name should be given. For public, he can be given your family’s surname. If the child is an infant (under two years of age), you can be his suckling mother if you can manage to milk the child five times at least. You can be his aunt, if he/she is milked by your sister or any other close relative. |
