Is hitting children to teach them permissible? |
|
|
|
Question:
Assume child joins madrassa and begins fine. As time goes on he has slight difficulty learning so his teacher hits him. When his teacher is asked who he based his teaching skills on he says they are based on the indo/pak style of teaching.
Is hitting children to teach them permissible?
Did the prophet (pbuh) practice this style of teaching?
Answer:
The renowned India-Pakistani system of children's education is unsuitable totally. It horrifies and does not instil real quest for knowledge.
The parents should withdraw children from such classes. Hitting is not allowed at any case. Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) did not hit the children, rather he was a friend to them. He never advocated for hitting, rather spoke of loving the young ones.
