| What is Civil Divorce? |

The divorce issued by the British Courts is of 3 types:
1. The Petitioner was the husband. 2. The petitioner was the wife and the husband has given his written consent to allow the divorce to proceed. 3. The woman was the petitioner but the husband did not attend the proceedings or defend the divorce petition. In the Council's Ruling the first two types of the divorce are valid Islamically because the husband's consent is found. On the other hand in the third type of divorce the husband's consent is missing so the woman is required to apply for Khul'a to Islamic Shari'a Council. |
