What does the divorce given by the council mean? PDF Print E-mail
The divorce awarded by the Council is of three kinds:
1.On the initiative of the husband himself. If the husband has divorced his wife only once or twice he has a right of 'Ruju' (taking back his wife) within the Iddat period of the woman. He can still marry her after the expiry of the Iddat period if both parties agree, but if the husband is found to have divorces the third time then this divorce is considered as absolutely irrevocable.

2.If the husband has conceded to the request of Khul'a, the divorce will be considered as one Talaq, which means that they are allowed to remarry if they both agree on fresh terms.

3. If divorce is given by the council on its own discretion (like Faskh or Tafreeq), it is still counted as one irrevocable divorce, which means that the husband has no right to take her back within the Iddat period, but both parties can remarry each other on fresh terms if they agree to do so.
