Can a wife contribute for husband's Hajj Print E-mail
Questoin: Assalamu Alaykum. question a husband wanted to go to hajj but he can not afford all the costs of hajj for him and his wife but the wife is ready to help. He contributed as much as he could but his wife has done most of it?please advice us. jazaka Allah khair

Answer:

If the person is unable to afford Hajj either for transportation or any other aspect of Hajj then it is not obligatory upon him. It is also not recommended for him to take out a loan to fulfill this obligation because it will be seen as burdening oneself to fulfill an obligation which Allah has not obliged him to do in that state. Thus, he should remain patient and work hard until Allah enrichs him to collect sufficent to gor for Hajj.

As for the wife and her money in contributing for his journey, she should give that money to him as a gift and not loan so that he is not burdening himself, however, if the loan is of moderate amount and he can repay it back then the scholars allow such loan to be taken out and his Hajj will be acceptable.
