Questoin: What is meant by Tawheed of Lorship? What is the benefit in having this belief and what was the stance of people in having belief in this aspect? Answer: Tawheed of Lordship in Arabic means 'Rububiyah' - it is dervied from the Root word of 'Rabb' which means; 1- The Owner 2- Incharge of every affair 3- Creator So, Tawheed of Rububiyyah means testification that Allah is the Creator of all creation, the One Who gives them death and life, the One Who incurs harm and good, the One Who responds to their supplications in desperate situations and Who is their Giver and Preventer (of sustenance or harm etc) and to Him belongs all creation and command as Allah said in the Quran; 'Verily to Him belongs the creation and command, Glorify is Allah Lord of all creation' [Al'A'raaf 53] Its benefit: This is considered the foundation for other categories (Tawheed of Names & Worship) because He is the Creator, the Owner, the One in Charge, He is the one deserving of worship, and for humility, for reverence, He deserves praises, thanks, remembrance, supplication, reliance and other acts of worship and none of which are correct for any one except for the one to whom belongs creation and judgement. A Muslim is always praising Allah in each and every Rakat in Salah by reciting; 'AlHamdulillahi Rabbil Aalameen' [All the praises are for Allah, The Lord of All Mankind] and in another verse; 'Fa lillahil Hamdu Rabbus Samawaati wa Rabbul Arshil Azeem' [so to Allah belongs all the praises, Lord of Heavens and Lord of Earth (and He is) Lord of all creation] Stance of people regarding this category: Generally, never any nation in the past ever challenged or denied in believing that there is a Creator of all creation except for Firoun and others except that Firoun denied existance of Allah due to pride as mentioned in the verse; 'And they belied them (those Ayât) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayât) are from Allâh, and Mûsa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allâh in truth, but they disliked to obey Mûsa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidûn (disbelievers, disobedient to Allâh, evil-doers, liars.) [Naml 14] Allah has related the story of Musa and Firoun; 'Mûsa (Moses)] said: "Verily, you know that these signs have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth (as clear evidences i.e. proofs of Allâh's Oneness and His Omnipotence). And I think you are, indeed, O Fir'aun (Pharaoh) doomed to destruction (away from all good)!" Al-Irsa 102 And for this reason when death came to hiim he accepted what he used to reject due to pride in order to save himself with that testimony; ' Now (you believe) while you refused to believe before and you were one of the Mufsidûn (evil-doers, corrupters) |
