Is all forms of shirk accountable by Allah? Print E-mail

Questoin

Are all the shirk forms  unforgivable sins in Islam!

whats the different between small shirk and big shirk?

is a small ones forgiveble than the big ones?

For example! major forms of shirk, hidden shirk, minor forms of shirk

If u comited some of this shirk...but u beliving there is no God but Allah and mohammed is the messenger of Allah. Do you still count as a muslim?

Answer:

Sins are either major or minor, and from major comes shirk. However, shirk is not like other major sins because any major sin apart from shirk can be forgiven by Allah if the person was unable to repent.

Now, shirk has 2 types;

- major

- minor and from minor shirk is hidden

now repentance from shirk has two cases;

1-      Repentance while the person is alive

2-      Repentance after death on day of judgement (which will have no avail for him)

If the person repents from shirk before death then in principal Allah will accept his taubah provided that there are 3 conditions met..

a-      Remorse from the sin

b-      Determination never to perform it again

c-      Cutting all means leading to the sin

Now, the question was is all forms of shirk forgiven or not?

The scholars have difference of opinion in this regards. Some say that shirk is accountable and will be punished for whether its major, minor or hidden and others say that only major shirk is accountable. However, they both agree that the person who performs minor shirk is not a kaafir, but what they despute is the fact that would his minor shirk accountable or upon the discretion of Allah. So ibn taymiyyah took the stance that shirk in general is accountable but his student ibn qayyum said that only major shirk is accountable.
